Krabi Airport ( Thai: ท่าอากาศยาน กระบี่; IATA: KBV, ICAO code: VTSG ) is an airport located in the district ( Amphoe ) Nuea Khlong Krabi province in southern Thailand. It is located from the center of the provincial capital of Krabi about eight kilometers northeast.
History
Initially, the airport and its terminal was designed for only a few flights a day from Bangkok. On 2 November 2005 ended with an Airbus A 330 of Novair from Scandinavia the first aircraft from overseas at the airport. To meet the ever increasing numbers of passengers and Boeing 747-400 and Boeing 737-400 to allow the landing fully with the start and runway was extended from 2100 to 3002 m, and opened a new and larger terminal in March 2006. On 18 May 2006, the official opening was followed as International Airport. In the new four-story terminal building can be handled per hour up to 1200 passengers.
