Kristiansand Zoo and Amusement Park

History

The operating company, founded in 1964, opened the park in 1966. Today he is one of the biggest tourist attractions in Norway. In the year 2008 631.210 visitors were counted in the amusement park with over 800 animals in more than 100 animal species, summer theater and many attractions.

The initiative for the establishment of the park came from Willy Tjomsaas. From 1965 Edvard Moseid was for the expansion and development of the animal park, which opened on June 26, 1966, in charge. Edvard Moseid worked until 2000 in the park.

In the 1970s, the zoo Kristiansand was the largest exporter of camels around the world.

In 1983 the park to the combined animal and leisure park was expanded. The artist and author Terje Formoe worked from 1984 to 1994 as a marketing and entertainment manager at the zoo, and built on a musical children 's and family program, whose main character Kaptein Sabeltann, first shown in 1989, quickly gained popularity. Construction
