Krokowa

Krokowa ( German Krockow, Kashubian Krokòwò ) is a village in the powiat Pucki the Polish Pomeranian province. The Gmina Krokowa is a rural community, which has its headquarters in Krokowa.

Geographical Location and Transport

Krokowa located in the historic area of West Prussia, about 39 kilometers east of the town of Leba ( Leba ) in Pomerania, six kilometers east of the Żarnowieckie Lake and seven miles south of the Baltic Sea. Through the village leads the Province Road ( droga wojewódzka ) 213, and the Province Road 218 begins here. The international airport Gdansk Lech Walesa is located about 50 kilometers south of Krokowa.

History

The first written reference to the town dates back to 1288th From the 13th century to the end of the Second World War, the city was the seat of the Counts of Krockow.

Krokawa has about 810 inhabitants.

Attractions

  • Worth seeing in Krokowa the castle of the family of Krockow, which was built in 1784. 1990, a foundation was established to renovate the castle. In addition to a hotel operating an outpost of the West Prussian Provincial Museum was established.

History

The outflow of Piaśnica ( Piasnitz ) from the Jezioro Żarnowieckie ( Żarnowieckie lake ) in the Baltic Sea formed until the year 1920, the border between the Prussian provinces of Pomerania and West Prussia. With the formation of the Polish Corridor was the eastern part of today's municipal territory of Poland. Since 1945, the entire municipality belongs to Poland.

The rural municipality has about 10,400 inhabitants.
