Origin and History

The Kromfohrlander is one of the youngest German breeds. The Erstzüchterin, Ilse loop tree, lived with victories in the south of North Rhine -Westphalia near the area of " Krom Fohr ," meaning to high German " crooked furrow ". So the name was Kromfohrlander. The idea came about in 1945, as a loop tree, which by withdrawing GIs had escaped from a stray dog , probably a Griffon Vendéen recorded males. When mating with a Foxterrierhündin a very homogeneous litter that encouraged to try more matings arose. So the animals of these two breeds were bred specifically compared from 1946 ( breed hybrid ) and it was continued to breed these animals until the phenotype stabilized. The results were so satisfactory that they were the basis for a new race. The breed was recognized by the 1955 International Association for the German Kennel Club and the Fédération Cynologique.

1960 Fox was in this race again crossed and the resulting hybrid dogs for the further development of the breed used. Since that is grown in pure culture.
