Krong Pinang District
Amphoe Krong Pinang ( Thai: อำเภอ กรง ปิ นั ง ) is a district ( Amphoe - administrative district ) in the province of Yala. The Yala province is located southeast of South Thailand, at the border to Malaysia.
Geography
Adjacent counties and regions are ( from east clockwise): Amphoe Raman which, Bannang Sata, Yaha and Muang Yala. All Amphoe located in the province of Yala.
Etymology
The name Krong Pinang is a Thai adaptation of " Kampung Pinang ", the original Malay name. It means village of Pinang. The word Pinang is the Malay term for betel palm ( Areca catechu ).
History
Krong Pinang was 30 April 1994 at first as a sub-district ( King Amphoe ) was established by four Tambon were separated from Amphoe Mueang Yala. On 7 October 2004 Krong Pinang got the full Amphoe status.
Management
Amphoe Krong Pinang is divided into four subdistricts ( tambon), which continued in 23 village communities ( Muban ) are divided.
There are also four " Tambon Administrative Organizations" (TAO, องค์การ บริหาร ส่วน ตำบล - administrative organizations) in the district.
