Kronoby

Kronoby ( Swedish), Finnish Kruunupyy, is a municipality in the western Finnish landscape Ostrobothnia. It is located approximately 100 km north-west of the city of Vaasa in the archipelago of the Gulf of Bothnia. 85% of 6670 inhabitants ( 31 December 2012) are Finland Sweden, 13 % speak Finnish as their native language. Officially, the municipality is bilingual.

Kronoby is halfway around 20 km between the towns of Kokkola Jakobstad in the south and the north. The Kronoby Airport is the air transport hub of the region. The airlines Finnair and Finncomm Airlines entertain scheduled flights to various Finnish cities; Start here also charter flights to southern European holiday regions.

Today's church was built Kronoby 1969 by the merger of the previously independent municipalities Kronoby, Nedervetil and Terjärv. So the church has today three parish churches that were built in the years 1822, 1817 and 1774 respectively.
