Krystyna Szumilas

Krystyna Maria Szumilas ( born June 28, 1956 in Knurów ) is a Polish politician, Platforma Obywatelska ( Civic Platform ), 2011-2013 Polish Minister of Education.

Life

She completed her studies in 1983 at the Silesian University in the Department of Mathematics, Physics and Chemistry. This was followed by a postgraduate course for computer science. Already from 1975 to 1991 Krystyna Szumilas worked as a teacher of Primary School No. 6 in Knurów. From 1991 to 1995 she was responsible for the education of the city Knurów. At the same time was Krystyna Szumilas 1990-1994 Member of the City Council of their home town and from 1998 to 2001 Member of the council of Powiats Gliwice. In the parliamentary elections of 2001 she ran for the Platforma Obywatelska and was able to gain a seat in the Sejm for the first time. Also in the 2005 parliamentary elections, with 16,105 votes, and the early elections in 2007, with 27,100 votes, she obtained a mandate. It is since then as Secretary of State ( sekretarz stanu ) in the Ministry of Education operates. On 18 November, she was succeeded by Katarzyna Hall as Minister of Education.

Krystyna Szumilas is married and has three children.
