Krzysztof Michałkiewicz

Krzysztof Stefan Michałkiewicz ( born September 26, 1953 in Oborniki Śląskie ) is a Polish politician, dated 31 October 2005 2006 Minister for Labour and Social Affairs in the government of Kazimierz Marcinkiewicz and since 2005 member of the Sejm in the V and up to May 5 VI. Legislature.

Life

He finished the study of Sociology at the Catholic University of Lublin. In 1979, he began his career as a lecturer in the cooperative for Artistic handmade in Lublin, then from 1979 to 1981 as a sociologist in a plant in Lublin.

In 1980, he joined the opposition Solidarity trade union. In 1981, he worked in the Regional Board of the Union of Lublin, and was editor of the newsletter. Because of participating in a strike in Świdnik he was arrested and sentenced to two and a half years in prison. From 1982 to 1983 he sat in various correctional facilities in Lublin, Łódź, Łęczyca and Hrubieszów. In 1983, he received a passport with permission for one-time departure during a brief suspension of the sentence. Together with his family he left Poland and went to Australia.

After returning in 1992, he worked in various places in Lublin. He became head of the regional employment office. In the years 1992 to 1998, he held the position of Director of Woiwodschaftssozialamts and in the years 1999 to 2002 he was Director of the Social Department of the Woiwodschaftsamts. From 2002 to 2003 he was deputy director of the Municipal Office of Family Assistance and in the years 2003 and 2004 he was Director of Social Services. After 2004 he was Deputy Mayor of Lublin.

In the 2005 parliamentary elections, he was on the list of Prawo i Sprawiedliwość ( Law and Justice - PiS), elected for the electoral district of Lublin in the Sejm. The Sejmwahlen 2007, he was confirmed for the PiS with 11,250 votes as a Member. He's in the VI. Term member of the Sejm commissions for social policy and health.

He has worked in various regional non-profit organizations, including in the Lublin Benevolent Association, the union of Lublin social organizations, the Lublin Obserwatorium for Social Problems. From 1992 to 1998 he was a member of Woiwodschaftsrates on Employment. For his social commitment, he was honored by the Metropolitan of Lublin, Archbishop Józef Życiński with the medal "Lumen Mundi ".
