Kubusia Puchatka Street

The Pu- the - Bear- street (Polish: Ulica Kubusia Puchatka ) is located in the center of Warsaw, runs parallel to the Royal Route in Warsaw.

The only 149 m long and 23 m wide road built in the first half of the fifties of the 20th century in place of the demolished ruins of the backyards of the west side of the Nowy Swiat - Street. It was built with 4- storey apartment buildings with service rooms on the ground floor.

The buildings were divided into segments with intervening Arkadenbauten. The two rows of linden trees were planted in 1954. The design was created by architect Zygmunt Stępiński and a group of architecture students.

The street name was chosen in competition by the readers of the afternoon sheet Express Wieczorny. Thanks to the political thaw, the choice was possible - until then, new streets were named after the revolutionaries.

The turret at the southern end of the road crowns the residential building with a nursery downstairs. At the northern end of a subway station has been constructed since 2011 on the runs, the second underground line of the Warsaw Metro.
