Stefan Kudelski

The company's founder and Nagra inventor Stefan Kudelski, was born on 27 February 1929 in Warsaw. During World War II his family fled from the Nazis after Hungary and France before they finally found asylum in Switzerland. During a recorded 1948 studies at the Swiss Federal Institute of Technology in Lausanne, he built his first tape recorder. In 1951 he founded his company and began production of the Nagra tape recorder -I for radio reporters. In 1990, he was honored for its technical merits of the Academy of Motion Picture Arts and Sciences with the Gordon E. Sawyer Award. He died on 26 January 2013.

André Kudelski, the son of the founder, is the current CEO of the company.
