Kuhlohorn

The Kuhlohorn (also Kuhlo flugelhorn ) is a engmensuriertes flugelhorn, traditionally in Bb tuning. As a brass instrument it is blown with a deep cup-shaped mouthpiece. Striking feature is its oval design and an integrated, usually conical tuning slide.

For John Kuhlo the desired sound of a Posaunenchores was marked by his a cappella ideal. He therefore preferred weitmensurierte instruments ( horns, tubas ) compared with trumpets and recommended its horns. In cooperation with the Bielefeld instrument maker Ernst David he has realized the development of this instrument.
