Kumluca

Kumluca is a Turkish city in Lycia on the Bay of Finike ( Finike Körfezi ). It is located 94 km west of Antalya in the Antalya region.

The city Kumluca is purely administrative and shopping center. The area around Kumluca ( Beykonak - Mavikent ) is considered the fruit and vegetable garden of Antalya. Mostly vegetable is cultivated in greenhouses in family businesses. Mostly here, tomatoes, cucumbers, zucchini, etc. are grown. In addition, there are many plantations of oranges, lemons and tangerines. Kumluca is located in a water-rich layer between the foothills of the Taurus Mountains and the Mediterranean. Thus the urban area after storms is highly flood risk. Almost the entire plane is built with greenhouses.

In Kumluca takes place every Friday a two-part weekly market. The large covered vegetable market is located in the city center on the road to Antalya, the market for clothing, etc. something is off in the city center, near the road to Altınyaka. There are bus services to Antalya, Finike, Kale ( Demre), Kaş and Fethiye and long distance buses. Dolmus minibuses serve the city traffic and the wider environment.

The district Kumluca include oceanfront of the larger town Mavikent and the village Karaöz ( holiday village ). This area leads the Lycian distance footpath Fethiye - Antalya.

In the mountains of the district is far to Kemer pass in the Beydağları Olympos National Park towards Antalya. There is, inter alia, to the town Altınyaka ( trout farm / restaurant) and in the vicinity of an ancient city ( Saraycik / Kita aura) at Gölcük and interesting geological (volcanic ) formations. The river Alakir flows through this area, which is dammed up behind the town Kumluca in the mountains by a dam. The whole district includes more than 100 villages in 24 major villages.

Kumluca is not so touristy developed like its neighboring cities ( Kaş, Finike, Kemer ) because it is not directly on the coast still has any sights.

On the road from Kumluca after Turunçova the hitherto little noticed, 360 m long bridge is Limyra from the Roman period, which is one of the oldest segmental arch bridges in the world of outstanding technology historical significance.
