Kupiškis
Kupiškis ( German, 18th Century: Kupischken ) is a city in the Rajongemeinde Kupiškis, in northeastern Lithuania with about 8,000 inhabitants, east of the district center of Panevėžys.
City
The place was first mentioned in 1529 and received a city charter in 1791. The name probably derives from the river Kupa which flows into the Lėvuo, ago. The village lies on the main highway and rail line Šiauliai - Daugavpils. A new ring road directs the long-distance south past the town.

The Rajongemeinde Kupiškis includes two cities: Kupiškis ( 8451 ) and Subačius ( 1180). There are 7 towns ( miesteliai ): Alizava, Antašava, Palėvenė, Salamiestis, Skapiškis, Senasis, Subačius, Šimonys.
