Kurt Equiluz

Kurt Equiluz ( born June 13, 1929 in Vienna) is an Austrian opera singer (tenor ).

Kurt Equiluz was alto soloist of the Vienna Boys' Choir. He was from 1950 a member of the State Opera Choir. He gained as an oratorio singer, especially as an evangelist in Bach's St. Matthew Passion awareness.

Life

In his youth he was with the Vienna Boys' Choir, after his voice broke in the broadcast band play, then after that he sang in Grossmann Chamber Choir under the direction of Ferdinand Grossmann. At the State Academy of Music in Vienna he studied harp.

In 1956 he got a solo contract with the Vienna State Opera.

1983 had to retire Equiluz after a complicated surgery meniscus at the Vienna State Opera.

From 1981 to 1998 he was professor at the Vienna Academy of Music ( song and oratorio ).

In 2000 he sang in February Schubert's " Winterreise" in the Brahms -Saal in Vienna.

Kurt Equiluz is married to his wife Elisabeth Equiluz. On June 12, 1954 was the first son Wolfgang was born in Vienna, which has also become a singer.
