Kurt Floericke

Kurt Ehrenreich Floericke ( born March 23, 1869 in Zeitz, † October 29, 1934 in Stuttgart ) was a German scientist, naturalist and author of many popular science presentations. Other spellings are Curt instead of Kurt or Floericke instead Floericke.

Biography

Kurt Floericke was born on 23 March 1869 in Zeitz. From 1889 he studied natural sciences in Breslau and Marburg. In 1893 he received his doctorate at the University of Marburg with the work attempted avifauna Silesia. This was followed by extensive research trips to East and Southeast Europe, North Africa, the Middle East and South America. In 1902 he settled as a writer in Vienna. His financial livelihood was assured when he joined the editorial staff of the COSMOS magazine. Floericke inspired the founding of the South German Ornithological Institute. He was a Masonic Grand Lodge of humanitarian " Freemasonry to the rising sun " on.

Floericke died of malaria which he had contracted during his research trips. His grave at the Stuttgart Prague cemetery still exists today.

Works

Floericke published numerous works and small bands, and around 800 articles and smaller releases in magazines. He followed his example Alfred Brehm and the pattern of his " Brehm 's Animal Life." He graduated from the behavior of animals on human characteristics. Floericke could with his popular scientific contributions inspire many people to nature.

During the First World War Floericke operated as a military writer, who described with national fervor in the campaigns of the Central Powers and the battles on the battlefields in the east.
