Kurt Streit

Kurt Streit ( born October 14, 1959 in Itazuke, Japan) is an American- Austrian opera singer (tenor ).

Life

Kurt Streit was born to American parents in Japan. He studied at the University of New Mexico with Marilyn Tyler.

Dispute began his vocal activity at the opera houses in San Francisco, Santa Fe, Dallas, Texas Opera Theater and the Milwaukee Skylight Comic Opera. In Europe, the first time he went to the Hamburg State Opera in operas by Mozart, Donizetti, and Rossini. He had more appearances at music festivals in Schwetzingen, Aix -en- Provence, Salzburg and Glyndebourne. Armed sang at the Vienna State Opera, at the Theater an der Wien, at the Metropolitan Opera in New York, at Covent Garden, and La Scala in Milan, at both the Bastille and the Palais Garnier in Paris, Teatro Real and Zarzuela in Madrid and Munich, Brussels, Leipzig, Dusseldorf and San Francisco. For his recording of Brahms' love songs Waltz, he was nominated for a Grammy. Dispute is known as a Mozart specialist and has appeared in 23 different productions of Mozart's Magic Flute and seven different productions of Mozart's Idomeneo. His repertoire ranges from works by Handel and Monteverdi to Beethoven and composers of the 19th and 20th century such as Wagner, Johann Strauss, Berlioz and Janáček.

In 2005, he was an Austrian citizen and lives with his son in Styria.
