Kurtka

Kurtka or Kutka, was the name of a Uniform Rocks originally used in the Polish troops of the Napoleonic Wars. Characteristic were the short coattails and the badge chest colored trim. The style originated in 1793 under the impression the 1786/88 throughout the Russian army introduced modern unit uniform that was there in 1796 but abolished. As one in other European armies under Polish model Lancer associations built, took over one of the " Polish " uniform style there with the Tschapka mostly as typical Ulanenuniform. After the introduction of the tunic Kurtka was then detached from the Ulanka.

Since Kurtka actually was only the Polish or Russian word for jacket, the term was often used for other uniform jackets with Eastern European style influences such as fastenings on chest or pointed cuffs, such as 1817 in the cavalry in Württemberg.
