Kürtün is a city in the province of Gümüşhane in northeastern Turkey.

The town has 2,962 inhabitants and county 12702 ( census of 2008 ). In 1990 she was awarded the status of a Ilce (administrative unit below a province). Geographically, it is located southwest of Mount Zigana, surrounded by the Pontic Mountains in the valley of the river Kharsit. Economically it is one of the least developed regions of Turkey, which is primarily characterized by agriculture. As a result, an increasing migration to the large cities in western Turkey is recorded.
