Kyodo News

The Ippan Shadan - Hojin Kyodo Tsūshinsha (Japanese一般 社 団 法人 共同 通信 社, Eng. Kyodo News ) is a Japanese non-profit news agency. Its headquarters is located in Minato, Tokyo Prefecture.

Kyodo News was created during the Allied occupation in November 1945 after the defeat of the domei Tsūshinsha ( Domei News Agency ), the Economic Department in the Jiji Tsūshinsha ( Jiji Press) passed. By 2010, Kyodo News was a public corporation ( Shadan - Hojin, Eng. Incorporated association) organized.

The news agency has more than 1,700 employees (as of January 2009).
