L'Association

L'Association is a French comic book publisher that was founded in 1990 by comic artists Jean -Christophe Menu, Lewis Trondheim, David B., Matt Konture, Patrice Killoffer, Stanislas and Mokeït. The goal was an independent publishing house, in which the artist could now decide on the content. Mokeït left the group soon after the foundation to deal with painting.

The publisher dedicated to modern currents of Franco- Belgian comics scene and gained with the publications by Joann Sfar and Satrapi international attention and commercial success. The anthology Comix 2000 with contributions from 324 authors from 29 countries came to the turn of the millennium end of 1999.

From 1992 published L'Association magazine Lapin. In 1993 the first meeting of OuBaPo ( Ouvroir de gang dessinée Potential; Workshop for Potential Comics ) with Patrice Killofer instead. The name of the workshop is based on OuLiPo, a literary circle around Raymond Queneau, to whose members created literature for fixed -limiting rules. The comic work has been published in 1997 in the magazine OuBaPo at L' Association. The third test tube magazine L' dedicated to the comic theory and criticism.
