L'Isle-Adam, Val-d'Oise

L' Isle- Adam is a commune with 11,880 inhabitants (as of January 1, 2011 ) in the department of Val- d'Oise in the Île- de -France region. It is the capital of the canton of the same name.

Geography

The city is located north-west of Paris in the suburbs. In the West, the city borders the River Oise, to all other pages it is surrounded by the Forêt de L' Isle- Adam. Since 1987 there is a twinning between L'Isle- Adam and the Baden-Württemberg Marbach am Neckar.

Neighboring municipalities are Parmain, Champagne- sur- Oise, Mours, Presles, Nerville -la- Forêt, Villiers -Adam, Butry -sur- Oise, Mériel and Valmondois.

Personalities

  • Honoré de Balzac stayed in 1827 at the invitation of the mayor in L' Isle- Adam on. In a letter to his sister he wrote that L' Isle- Adam is his paradise on earth. His work physiology of marriage (La physiology du mariage ) was there.
