La Brigue

La Brigue is a commune in the Alpes-Maritimes department in the Provence- Alpes- Côte d' Azur. In Italian, the name of Briga Marittima.

History

Brigue after the Second World War, a part of France, after it was obliged to cede Italy in September 1947, according to the Paris Peace Conference in 1946. Before the assignment, it was part of the province of Cuneo. The change, which met with resistance in the community, has been ratified by a local referendum in retrospect. This was held on 12 October 1947 under international observation.

Attractions

The pilgrimage chapel Sanctuaire Notre -Dame des Fontaines is provided internally with murals of the artist Giovanni Baleison and Giovanni Canavesio from the 15th century and is referred to as small Sistine Chapel of the Maritime Alps.

Tourism

It lies at the distance footpath GR52A. A nearby via ferrata medium difficulty (C / D ) and a length of about 250 meters above the village leader, represents a further sporting attraction
