La Cigale (brasserie)

The Brasserie La Cigale (French Grille ) is a Grade I listed restaurant in Nantes.

Designed by the architects and ceramic Emile libaudiere and opened on April 1, 1895 restaurant is located on the Place Graslin compared to the same theater. It is protected as a monument historique since October 12, 1964. His sumptuous decor is attributable to the historicism in the transition to Art Nouveau.

The Civil eatery moved because of its proximity to the Théâtre Graslin always also an artist. At its regular guests included Jacques Prévert and André Breton. Jacques Demy turned there in 1961 some scenes of his film Lola. Agnès Varda turned in 1991 scenes for the film Jacquot de Nantes.

The restaurant was established in 1964 for self-service restaurant and was threatened in the 1970s by the closure, but was opened in 1982 as a brasserie again.
