La Farlède

La Farlède is a commune with 8591 inhabitants (as of January 1, 2011 ) in the Var department in the Provence- Alpes- Côte d' Azur.

Geography

La Farlède is located about fifteen kilometers from Toulon at the foot of Mont Coudon and Baux- Rouges, on the edge of the wide and fertile Gapeautales.

History

La Farlède was formerly part of the community Solliès, which was divided in 1799 into the communities Solliès -Ville, Solliès -Pont, Solliès- Toucas Solliès- Farlède.

Attractions

  • The Eglise Notre Dame was built 1751-1755 in Romanesque style. The outer walls are made of stone blocks, the main entrance is two leaves of oak, which was originally designed for the Basilica in St Maximin. The church altarpiece is from 1755., 24 years after its completion in 1779, the church was the parish church of an independent parish. The first pastor was the priest, Freemasons and later constitutional bishop of Fréjus in the Var Jean -Joseph Rigouard ( 1735-1800 ).
