La Fourche (Paris Métro)

La Fourche is a station of the Paris Métro. Here, the line divides from 13 towards Châtillon - Montrouge ( in the south) into its two branches in the direction of Gabriel Peri in the North West and Saint -Denis - Université in the Northeast.

Location

La Fourche is in the northwest of the city between the 17th and 18th arrondissements. About the Station Avenue de Saint Ouen branches off to the northeast from the Avenue de Clichy, whose respective road curves follow the two branches of the line.

In the vicinity are the following, among other things, the church Saint- Michel des Batignolles, and the Cimetière de Montmartre.

History

The station was opened on February 26, 1911, at that time - as a station on Line B of the Nord -Sud company - exclusively with management in the direction of Porte de Saint -Ouen, so Saint -Denis was added. It was only on January 20, 1912 came the northwestern branch, which at that time ended at the Porte de Clichy.

Due to the permanent overload of both branches of the line 13 and the common trunk route planning before saw a long time, to extend the line 14 in a new tunnel from the station Saint- Lazare to La Fourche to give her a branch of this line. Structure of the Station

The station has three platforms.
