La Motte-en-Bauges
La Motte- en- Bauges is a town in the French department of Savoie in the Rhone -Alpes.
Geography
La Motte- en- Bauges is located on 710 m above sea level. M., about 22 km northeast of the town of Chambery (air line). The farming village extends to the northwest of the Savoie département, in the massif of the Wallows, in the broad valley basin of the Chéran at the western foot of Mont Chabert.
The area of 9.96 km ² municipal area includes a portion of the massif of the Wallows. The western boundary runs along the Chéran as it flows in a wide valley basin from south to north. From the river, the municipality's area extends eastward over the valley and the slopes of La Motte up on the sharp ridge of the Mont Chabert, on with 1475 meters above sea level. M. the highest peak of La Motte- en- Bauges is achieved. The Mont Chabert is part of a north-south direction extending through the whole massif of bauges distinctive mountain chain. To the north of the ridge includes the Mont d' Étrier at ( 1404 m above sea level. M. ). To the north of the municipality extends to the ground in the valley of the Ruisseau de Bellecombe (right tributary of the Chéran ).
At La Motte- en- Bauges next to the village itself includes various hamlet settlements and farmsteads, including:
- Entrèves (700 m above sea level. M. ) on a ridge above the valley of the Ruisseau de Bellecombe
- Le Rocher (680 m above sea level. M. ) in the basin of the Chéran
- Les Frénauds (680 m above sea level. M. ) in the basin of the Chéran
- Les Brunots (760 m above sea level. M. ) on the lower western slopes of the Mont Chabert

Neighboring communities of La Motte- en- Bauges are Bellecombe -en -Bauges in the north, Le Châtelard in the south and Lescheraines in the West.
History
La Motte is first mentioned in the 11th century. The place name derives from the old French word mothe from denoting a fortified hill.
Attractions
The Village Church of La Motte- en- Bauges was built in the 19th century. In addition, the Manoir des Cerises and the hamlet Noiray be mentioned with its characteristic houses in the Savoyard style.
Population
With 438 inhabitants (as of 1 January 2011) La Motte- en- Bauges is one of the small communities of the department of Savoie. After the population was declining in the first half of the 20th century, an increase in population was recorded since the mid- 1980s thanks to the beautiful residential area again.
Economy and infrastructure
La Motte- en- Bauges was until well into the 20th century a predominantly coined by agriculture and Alpine village. In addition, there are today some of the local small business enterprises. Many workers are commuters who engage in the larger towns in the vicinity of their work.
The village is located off the major thoroughfares on a secondary road that leads from Alby- sur- Chéran by the massif of the bauges to Saint -Pierre- d'Albigny. Another road connection with Bellecombe -en- Bauges. The nearest links to the A41 motorway is located at a distance of around 23 km.
