La Pointe County, Wisconsin

The La Pointe County was a county that was formed on February 19, 1845 from the St. Croix County and initially was in what was then Wisconsin Territory. Lac Courte Oreilles - - As a border line mouth of the Ripple River West Fork Montreal River was used. When, on May 29, 1848 Wisconsin became an official State, a part of the county was not associated with the new state. From the remaining parts of the Itasca County was formed when the Minnesota Territory from the Iowa Territory was formed on March 3, 1849, at the same time, the areas of the Wisconsin Territory, which had not gone up in Wisconsin or in the Iowa Territory, this new territory have been assigned. The other part was part of the new state of Wisconsin. On February 8, 1854 Ashland County was formed from a part of the county, the Douglas County, on March 27, 1860 formed. On April 12, 1866, renamed the La Pointe County Bayfield County.
