La Proiselière-et-Langle

La Proiselière -et- Langle is a commune in Haute -Saône in the Franche -Comté.

Geography

La Proiselière -et- Langle situated at an altitude of 354 m above sea level, 10 km east of Luxeuil -les- Bains and about 35 km northeast of the town of Vesoul (air line). The village is located in the northeastern part of the department, in the western foothills of the Vosges, on the southern edge of the Talniederung Breuchin.

The area of ​​7.06 km ² municipal area includes a portion of the plateau landscape criss-crossed by valleys on the western edge of the Vosges. The northern border is in the middle of the valley of Breuchin, the multiple turn it flows through Alluvialniederung to the west. The flood plain is on average 345 m and has a width of about two kilometers wide.

From the river, the municipality's area extends southward over the Talniederung and over a steep slope down to the adjoining plateau of the Plateau des Mille Étangs. The slope is divided by two small valleys, including that of the Ruisseau de la Goutte. On the plateau, showing a loose structure of grassland and forest, there are numerous small lakes that are of natural origin, were partly created by the monks since the 11th century for fish farming. With 442 m is reached on this plateau, the highest peak of La Proiselière -et- Langle. In geological- tectonic terms, the plateau is composed of crystalline bedrock. On the plateaus are found glacial deposits from the Pleistocene. In some places, is also evident sandstone of the Lower Triassic. To the southwest the plateau drops off gradually. The double municipality comprises the villages of La Proiselière (354 m) and Langle ( 358 m), both located at the southern edge of the valley of the Breuchin, as well as numerous villages on the Plateau des Mille Étangs. Neighboring communities of La Proiselière -et- Langle are Amage and Sainte -Marie- de - Chanois in the north, Les Fessey to the east, La Corbières to the south and La Bruyère in the West.

History

Remains of a Gallo-Roman campsite on the hill south of the village indicate an early presence of man. In the Middle Ages La Proiselière and Langle belonged to the Free County of Burgundy and in the territory of the Bailliage d' amont. The local government had held the Lords of Faucogney. Together with the Franche -Comté reached both villages with the Peace of Nijmegen in 1678 definitively to France. Since the time of the French Revolution La Proiselière and Langle form a double community. Today La Proiselière -et- Langle is a member of the 16- villages municipal association Communauté de communes des Mille Étangs. It belongs to the parish of Sainte -Marie- de - Chanois and does not have its own church.

Attractions

The villages are characterized by different farmhouses dating from the 18th century, showing the traditional style of the region in the western Vosges. The Mairie ( Municipal House ) has a small bell tower. About the Breuchin performs a stone bridge.

Population

With 171 inhabitants ( 1 January 2011) La Proiselière -et- Langle is one of the small towns in the Haute- Saône. After the population had decreased significantly in the first half of the 20th century (1881 442 persons were still counted ), a slight population growth was recorded since the early 1990s again.

Economy and infrastructure

La Proiselière -et- Langle is still a predominantly by agriculture (crops, orchards and livestock ), forestry and fish farming embossed village. Outside of the primary sector, there are few jobs in town. Some employed persons are therefore commuters who engage in the larger towns in the vicinity of their work.

The village is situated away from the larger passage axes on a secondary road that leads from Breuchotte to La Voivre. Further road links exist with Sainte -Marie- de - Chanois, Les Fessey and La corbière.
