La Rural

The Exposicià Rural (in short: La Rural ) is an annual agricultural and livestock exhibition. It takes place in a purpose-built premises in the Palermo district of the Argentine capital, Buenos Aires. The exhibition is organized by La Sociedad Rural Argentina.

Overview

The exhibition will take place in the exhibition halls and exhibition space on Avenida Santa Fe held and dates back to 1886. The Rural is primarily an issue for farmers, arriving for the ranchers from across the country to their livestock, mainly cattle but also horses and other products to showcase. From the exhibition quickly became a social event for the upper classes, as well as took place in one of the most expensive residential area of ​​the city. It developed a framework program with balls and similar events. With the economic crisis in Argentina at the turn of the millennium, the momentum was lost for something, but it is still popular with visitors. 2005 visited the Rural 715,000 guests with its 400 stalls and 4,000 animals.

The Sociedad Rural Argentina was founded on July 10, 1866 by Eduardo Olivera and José Martínez de Hoz, with the motto " The cultivation of the earth is the service of the country " and was first called ' El Solar de Palermo '. The exhibition halls and sites date from the 1870s. Outside the agricultural exhibition hall is used for other fairs. The Opera Pampa uses the hall for their shows, which aims to familiarize with folk dancing and the Argentine asado history. The company has over 10,000 members and branches in many parts of the country.
