La Tribune (Sherbrooke)

La Tribune is a French language Canadian newspaper with editorial headquarters in Sherbrooke. It is published Monday to Saturday, in the first quarter of 2007 the circulation was 32,765 ( weekdays ) and 38 599 ( Saturday) copies. Owner of the newspaper is " Gesca Limitée ", a 100 % subsidiary of Power Corporation of Canada.

History

The newspaper was founded in 1910 by the attorney Jacob Nicol with the help of Michael A. Foley. She was a Catholic, but at the same time liberal media, which fell back from 1913 on news agencies and progressive national and international reporting introduced. Nicol was able to build a successful business, which is also the newspapers L' Événement and La Nouvel list included over time, further also the radio station CHLT (since 1937) and ckts (since 1946). 1955 was the issuing media company " La Tribune Ltée " to Paul Desruisseaux (Director ) and ALPHE Gauthier on (Vice Director, Nicols brother and by then manager of the newspaper ). In 1956, the television station CHLT TV was founded. In 1966, La Tribune, the company Télémedia Québec, a year later it was acquired by Paul Desmarais, CEO of today's publisher " Power Corporation of Canada " along with Jacques Francoeur.
