La Vallée-au-Blé

La Vallée -au- Blé is a commune of 375 inhabitants (as of January 1, 2011 ) in the department of Aisne in Picardy region. Its inhabitants are called Vallibladiens.

Geography

The municipality of La Vallée -au- Blé located in the north of France, about 20 kilometers from the Belgian border and about 40 kilometers east of Saint- Quentin.

Neighboring communities of La Vallée -au- Blé are Marly- Gomont in the north, Haution in the east, in the southeast Voulpaix, Lemé in the southwest. Le Sourd in the west and Proisy in the northwest ( point of contact ).

Geology and relief

La Vallée -au- Blé is a municipality in the thiérache in the catchment area of the Seine; the landscape is dominated by woody plants. The municipality is located on a plateau 164-186 m above sea level. The plateau originated in the Upper Cretaceous. The seismic risk is low. In the southwest of the community we find the forest le bois de la Cailleuse which is partly owned by the municipality Lemé.

Climate

In La Vallée -au- Blé prevails as in the region of Picardy, a temperate maritime climate. The weather recording is very similar to those of Vervins ..

History

La Vallée- aux- Bled 1829 ausgemeindet from the communities and Lemé Voulpaix and newly established. On June 21, 1961, the community name La Vallée- aux- Bled was changed to La Vallée -au- Blé.

Attractions

Church of Saint -Michel

The church of La Vallée -au- Blé is dedicated to the Archangel Michael. It was built in 1957 on the site of the original church, which was destroyed in a plane crash in the night from 17 to 18 May 1940. Compared to the former building of the new building has no transept.

Hall and Banquet Hall

Hall and Banquet Hall located in the same building, which was built in 1952. Even its predecessor on the same site was destroyed in a plane crash at the start of the Second World War.

Traffic

La Vallée -au- Blé is located on the secondary road D 960 ( Vervins - Guise - Cambrai ), some eight kilometers west of Vervins and approximately 13 kilometers southeast of Guise. In addition, crosses the D 492 the place that leads to Lemé and Haution.

Waterworks

A water plant was built by the municipality at the beginning of the 1960s. It provides the community and the local authorities Voulpaix and Lemé.

Seniorenwohnheim

La Vallée -au- Blé has a retirement home with 84 beds, which was ( closed early 2000s ) was built between 2006 and 2008 on the site of the previous building. The home can accommodate from Alzheimer's sufferers.

Persons with respect to the commune

  • Jean Dagnaux, French fighter pilot, crashed on the night of 17 May 18, 1940 his plane in La Vallée -au- Blé and died there.
  • The Garin family played an important role in La Vallée -au- blé by setting up an agricultural machinery factory.
