Labeaume

Labeaume is a commune with 610 inhabitants (as of January 1, 2011 ) in the department of Ardèche. The inhabitants call themselves Labeaumois or les Labeaumoises. Until the early twentieth century, these living from wine, silk and olive production. Today, tourism is the main source of income.

Attractions

Labeaume is considered one of the most beautiful villages in France and has existed since the 12th century. The village is built into the slope of the " Gorges de la Beaume ", where the town square is located on the left bank of the river Beaume. Since 1998 it has held the title " Village de caracter ".

Worth seeing are the numerous narrow and winding streets between the houses of the village. The historic center is characterized by the existence since the 14th century Catholic Church " Saint Pierre ", whose steeple is supported by two large columns. About the Beaune and performs a 100 year old stone bridge, which was built to protect against the spring and autumn floods from the Cevennes geländerlos. This area is used by locals and tourists for swimming.

Labeaume is the venue of the annual summer music festival " Musiques en LABEAUME ".
