Lac de Vouglans
The Vouglan is a reservoir of the River Ain in the French region of Franche -Comté. It is located about 20 to 25 km southeast of Lons -le- Saunier. The area of the lake is between the community lands of Pont -de- Poitte and Vouglans Menouille.
With a storage capacity of 605 million cubic meters of the 30 km long and up to 100 m deep Vouglan after the Lac de Serre- Ponçon the second largest artificial lake in France.
The lake was built in 1964-1969 by the generator company EDF and serves mainly to generate electricity. He is also a popular recreational area.
