Lachin Kurdish Republic

The Kurdish Republic of Lachin ( nordkurdisch Komara Laçin Kurdî ) was proclaimed on 20 May 1992 in the Azerbaijani district Laçin, two days after the territory of the Azerbaijan SSR was conquered during the Nagorno-Karabakh conflict by Armenian units; the population was thereby minimized by emigration mostly.

The idea to implement a resettlement of the entity of the Red Kurdistan in the 1920s, in principle, was placed by the Armenians in the space for which the Lachin corridor formed a strategically important link to Nagorno-Karabakh.
