Ladinia

The name Ladin ( Ladino and Italian: Ladin ) refers to a geographical area in the Dolomites in northern Italy.

The term was probably coined in the 19th century as a term for the Ladin Val Badia. Later, there was a significant expansion of the scope, which now includes more Ladin core areas around the sella floor next to the Val Badia: Val Gardena in South Tyrol, Val di Fassa in Trentino and Buchstein and often additionally Cortina d' Ampezzo, in the province of Belluno (Veneto ). The name " Ladin " is now established in the tourist and partly scientific literature.
