Ladislav Dluhoš

Ladislav Dluhoš ( born October 6, 1965 in Čeladná ) is a former Czech ski jumper.

Career

Dluhoš jumped on January 14, 1984 for the first time jumping in the context of the Ski Jumping World Cup. He reached in Harrachov surprisingly the 4th place and thus also the first World Cup points. When shortly afterwards held Nordic World Ski Championships 1984 in Engelberg, he won together with Vladimír Podzimek, Jiří Parma and Pavel Ploc in the team competition bronze medal. Only a few days later Dluhoš reached the 12th place when jumping from the large hill at the 1984 Winter Olympics in Sarajevo. After the games he could again jump into the top ten in the World Cup in Oberstdorf and Planica. He finished the 1983/84 season at the 21st place in the overall World Cup standings. The 1984/85 season started with poor results in the Four Hills Tournament 1984/85. However, in the Ski Flying World Championships 1985 in Planica he could reach again with the 5th Place a Top 10 ranking. In the Nordic World Ski Championships 1985 in Seefeld in Tirol Dluhoš reached the 33rd place on the normal hill. In the first World Cup competition after the World Cup he could jump in Sapporo with 2nd place on the podium for the first time. Even a week later in Engelberg he stood - this time with 3rd place - again on the podium.

The World Cup 1985/86 season began with a 4th place in Chamonix. Also at the Ski Flying World Championships 1986 he reached this placement. In Liberec and Sapporo he jumped again shortly afterwards with the second and third places on the podium. At the end of the season he finished 10th in the overall World Cup standings.

The following season, he began with a rather mixed Four Hills Tournament 1986/87 which, with the space he could win 11 World Cup points only in Innsbruck. In the Nordic World Ski Championships 1987 in Oberstdorf, he jumped on the normal hill on the 53rd and on the large hill on the 29th place. In the team competition, he reached together with Jiří Parma, Martin Švagerko and Pavel Ploc the 4th place and missed it by 1.9 points behind the team from Austria only just a medal. After the World Cup he played only the World Cup in Falun and jumped there on the 11th Place. At the end of the season, he finished with 10 points won the World Cup only 47th in the overall World Cup standings.

The World Cup season 1987/88 started with a 15th place in Sapporo. In the subsequent Four Hills Tournament 1987/88, however, he remained again fell short of expectations. He then appealed for four weeks a break from training, to prepare for the next Olympics. At the Olympic Winter Games in Calgary in 1988 Dluhoš jumped on the normal and large hill ever to 14th place. In the team competition, he reached the 4th place behind Finland, Yugoslavia and Norway together with Jiří Malec, Pavel Ploc and Jiří Parma. In the rest of the season jumping after the Olympics Dluhoš reached in all jumping Placement within a scoring points and ended the season at the end on the 24th place in the overall World Cup standings.

The first event in the 1988/89 World Cup season, he managed as well as at the end of the preseason always jump in the points, usually even in the top ten. Only the Four Hills Tournament 1988/89 he again showed his weakness in this tournament. However, after the tour, he reached again in all jumping World Cup points and stood in Harrachov with 3rd place on the podium. This was the highest individual finish of the season. When shortly afterwards held Nordic World Ski Championships 1989 in Lahti, he jumped on the normal hill on the 11th and on the large hill on the 6th Place. In the team competition, he was in the team composition of the 1988 Olympics at the end of third parties and thus won the bronze medal.

From the 1989/90 season he achieved increasingly through adult services. His best finish he reached in January 1990 again with a 2nd place in Harrachov. Following this, however, remained out of great success, World Cup points or placings in the top ten were rare. In the Ski Flying World Championships 1990 in Vikersund he came at the end only on the 32nd. Also at the Nordic World Ski Championships 1991 in Val di Fiemme, he was unable to convince 25th place on the wholesale and number 26 on the normal hill. In the team competition, he was able to place 5 not repeat the bronze medal in 1989. Due to the loss in output Dluhoš jumped next to the World Cup in the sub-prime Continental, but remained in this series in subsequent years without success.

In 1993, he jumped for the Czech Ski Association, after the split of Czechoslovakia whose association had dissolved.

At the 1994 Winter Olympics Dluhoš belonged to the levy of the Czechs for ski jumping and reaching to the normal hill to 30th place. After the games he played until the end of the season all World Cup competitions and ended the season with 165 points at the end on the 24th place in the overall World Cup standings. In the following season 1994/95 he jumped at December 11, 1994 his last World Cup competition in Planica, then launched exclusively in the Continental Cup. But as he remained largely unsuccessful there as well, Dluhoš ended after the 1995/96 season his active ski jumping career at the age of 30 years.
