Ladislav Smoljak

Ladislav Smoljak ( born December 9, 1931 in Prague, Czechoslovakia, † June 6, 2010 in Kladno, Czech Republic) was a Czech actor, film director and screenwriter.

Biography

After graduating from Ladislav Smoljak originally wanted to study at the Theater Faculty of the Academy of Performing Arts in Prague. He was rejected and instead studied physics and mathematics at the Charles University in Prague. After graduating, he taught for several years at both the university and at school. In parallel, he worked as a freelance journalist and later founded with Jiří Šebánek and Zdeněk Svěrák the Jara Cimrman theater. From the late 1960s he played more with the theater and film. With the comedy horoscope from the computer he made his debut as a screenwriter with the TV comedy Dvere as a director.

On June 6, 2010 Smoljak died at the age of 78 years at the hospital in Kladno.
