Ladislav Štípek

Ladislav Štípek ( born 1925 in Prague, † 13 February 1998 in Barcelona) was a Czech tennis players. Successfully he was especially in doubles, where he World Champion and European Champion was three times.

World Championships

Between 1947 and 1960 Štípek participated in 12 World Championships, where he won 19 medals. A total of three times he won the doubles title, namely 1948 Bohumil Váňa, 1955 with Ivan Andreadis and 1957 again with Ivan Andreadis. In 1948 and 1951 he won gold with the Czech team. Silver in the double he got in 1949, 1956 and 1959. Requires four Vice World Championships come with the Czech team.

European Championships

Štípek was nominated for the European Championships in 1958 and 1960. In 1958 he was European champion in doubles with Ludvik Vyhnanovský, with the Czech team he reached second place.

Coach

After his playing career ended in 1960 Štípek worked as a trainer in Czechoslovakia, Peru (up to 1966) and from 1977 as head coach of the national team in Spain. 1987 refused to give him the Czechoslovak authorities have the necessary renewing his contract in Spain study abroad approval, so he emigrated. After the Velvet Revolution Štípek was able to return in November 1989, back in his home country and visited Prague.

Honor

Štípek, 1955 and 1957 national champion CSSR, was awarded the 1991 ITTF Merit Award, 1995, he was inducted into the ITTF Hall of Fame.

1955 had Štípek next Jiří Sramek, Bohumil Váňa, Ludvik Vyhnanovský and Joseph Posejpal with in the rotated by Jiří Jahn two-part documentary " Stolní tenis ".
