Lady and Bird

Lady & Bird is the name of a studio album, which as a collaboration between the French singer and songwriter Keren Ann and Bardi Johannsson, the frontman of the Icelandic band Bang Gang, in Paris, Brussels and Reykjavik was taken at joint sessions of 2003. In June 2006, the album under Ann's own label "Yellow Tangerine " was published in the United States.

Two of the ten songs are cover versions. Stephanie Says is originally by The Velvet Underground. In the song Suicide Is Painless is the cover version of the theme song of the M * A * S * H television series or movie of the same name.

The songs of the concept album, sung in English folk -influenced pop ballads that tell the story of Lady and Bird, two fictitious children, trapped in the bodies of adults, can not cope with the life-world of adults who feel lonely and lost and to their environment despair. The style ranges from psychedelic sound and ballads.

The name Lady & Bird is related to the text in Shepard 's Song, but also for the duo Ann / Jóhannson themselves who have released another album under this name in 2009. The new album is called, analogous to the 10 pieces of Lady & Bird La Ballade of Lady and Bird
