Lady (word)
Lady (English lady of Old English. Hlæfdige " Brotkneterin, bread maker " ) generally refers to a lady. The male version is Lord or Sir.
Lady is in the United Kingdom of Great Britain and Northern Ireland, the form of address for the wife of a lord, a Knights ( Knights ) or baronet, in certain cases, for the daughters of the peer ( see courtesy title ), or for a Peeress own right. Earlier, it was the title of Queen and Princess.
There is also the concept of the First Lady, usually the wife of a president.
The term is also commonly used as an honorific for women, but an ironic undertone is also possible (Lady Gaga ).
