Laggarfalke (Falco jugger )

The Laggarfalke (Falco jugger ) is a species of bird in the genus of falcons (Falco ). Another common name, mainly by falconers, is Luggerfalke.

Features

The Laggarfalke is a medium-sized hawk. Its shape is that of the Lanner Falcon, with which it is sometimes considered conspecific. The body length is 39 to 46 inches, the span of 88-107 centimeters. The tail is 16 to 21 inches long. In adult birds the covert feathers on the top are lined with dark brown and light brown. The tail is medium length, the two middle tail feathers are uniform dark gray-brown with beige lace. Crown and nape are rusty reddish to white, have black Scharfstrichel on and bounded by a white over eye and a black eye-streak down. Throat and upper breast are whitish. The sides of the chest are easily dashed on a whitish ground; Abdomen, flanks and pants are spotted or banded stronger.

The top of the young birds is colored similarly the adult birds, but crown and nape are brown. The rear cheeks and eyes glancing are sold brown and less sharp. With the exception of the white throat the bottom is mostly dark brown and variable light spotted. The cere and eye ring, and initially also the feet are gray-green.

Occurrence

The Laggarfalke inhabited dry, open woodlands, plains, farmland and semi-deserts and cities, if there are trees available. The species is generally only at altitudes up to 1000 meters, it has been demonstrated up to 1980 meters. The circulation area covers almost the whole of India, Pakistan, Bangladesh, Nepal and Bhutan; Furthermore, the extreme south-east of Iran, south Turkmenistan, to the southeast of Afghanistan.

Endangering

The existence of the Laggarfalken is estimated at less than 100,000 copies. The IUCN classified the species as " Near Threatened " (sort of early warning ).
