Lagh Doss

Moorsee

The Lagh de Pian Doss ( Lombard in the local dialect, Italian Lago Dosso ) is a post-glacial bog lake in the south of the village of San Bernardino in the community Mesocco in the canton of Grisons. He is in a small Torfmulde that is registered in the Federal Inventory of raised bogs of the covenant.

The nearly circular lake is fed by a stream that flows down the west of the Alp Pian Doss and two other tributaries to the north. The outflow is in the northwest. The unnamed stream flows north towards San Bernardino and ends after about one kilometer into the lake Lago d' Isola.

Its maximum depth is reached the lake at around 6 meters in the middle. Thanks to a depth of 5 meters, sufficient oxygen present the Lagh de Pian Doss provides habitat for several species of fish. The most numerous are rudd, tench and pike. Trout in alpine areas often occur otherwise, do not exist here. All species reproduce naturally.

The lake in summer reaches a temperature of about 20 degrees and is very suitable for bathing. Built in the 1970s, Hotel-Restaurant has for many years yet.
