Laghman Province
Laghman ( Lagman also, Pashto / Dari: لغمان ) is one of 34 provinces in Afghanistan. Covering an area of almost 3843 km ² is home to around 441,000 inhabitants. The provincial capital is Mehtarlam (also Mehtar Lam, Mehterlam, Mihtarlam, Mihterlam ). The province is inhabited with a population share of 75 % of the majority Pashtuns, beyond 20 % of the population belong to the Pashai and 5% to other population groups. The languages spoken there belong to the Indo-Iranian language area. These are the independent idioms Pashto and Dari, as well as Pashai, a variant of the Persian.
