Lagunair Lineas Aereas was a Spanish regional airline based in León.

History

The airline originally owned by the Leon Airport Consortium located began its flight operations on 29 September 2003 with a flight from Leon to Barcelona's El Prat Airport. Flight operations had to be temporarily suspended in January 2005 due to technical problems and mismanagement of Leon airport. In February 2005, the Company of the AGELCO group, a Leonese group of investors was purchased. The investor and the airline were strongly supported by the local government.

Under its new ownership, the company was reorganized and tries to develop a long-term strategy to make Lagunair the leading regional airline of Castilla- Leon. In May 2005 E- Ticket was introduced and several agreements with several major Spanish travel company closed. Through a capital increase of 14 million euros, the existing Saab turboprop fleet could be replaced by Embraer jets to build from other airports Castilla- Leon's regular services.

Flight operations could be resumed, although on March 1, 2005, but was officially announced by Lagunair on 8 October 2008 on the website that the flight operations from October 9, 2008 is set for the time being. The reason for the difficult economic situation of the aviation industry was headed. All 150 employees were also dismissed from the company.

Destinations

Lagunair operating scheduled services to 19 cities in mainland Spain, including Barcelona, Madrid, Salamanca and Valencia, as well as to Mallorca, Menorca and Ibiza. The main base was Leon Airport with hubs at Burgos Airport, Valladolid and Salamanca Airport, from where the region of Castilla - Leon was connected to major Spanish cities.
