Lahijan

Lahidschan (also Lāhījān or Lahidjan, Persian لاهيجان ) is a city in northwestern Iran. It is located in the province of Gilan, close to the south-western part of the Caspian Sea. The town has nearly 82,000 inhabitants (as of extrapolation: 2012). Because of its many tea plantations Lahidschan is considered the city " green carpet ". The " Lāhījān Spring Tea " is considered a product of the highest quality in Iran. Not just tea, but also bamboo cultivation and silk production make the region far nationally known since time immemorial. In addition, rice is grown in this fertile region.

The city has a university, the Islamic Azad University Lāhīdschān with comprehensive educational format.

At the foot of Scheitan cow ( the devil or Satan Hill) on the outskirts of Lahidschan is the Lahidschan Lake ( Estachreh Lahidschan ), from which it is possible to pass a waterfall to climb the mountain above. Before the revolution there were efforts to build a cable car here. The project failed after completion of the ground station. With the help of Austrian cable car was completed in 2006, ultimately.
