Lahore Museum

The Lahore Museum, also known as Central Museum, ( Punjabi: لاہور میوزیم ), ( Urdu: لاہور عجائب گھر ) is a museum in Lahore ( Pakistan).

History

The museum opened in 1894 was built in the style of Mughal architecture and dedicated to the history of Pakistan. The collections contain works and finds mainly from the Mughal period. The museum building was designed by the architect Ganga Ram.

In collections it contains specimens of Mughal and Sikh carved doors and paintings from the Mughal, Sikh and British era. In addition to a collection of musical instruments, antique jewelery, textiles, ceramics and weapons, are there also relics from the time of the Greek - Bactrian Kingdom and Tibetan and Nepalese work.

Others

The novel by British writer Rudyard Kipling Kim plays including in the Lahore Museum. Rudyard Kipling's father, John Lockwood Kipling, was one of the first curators of the museum
