Lahore-Resolution

The Lahore Resolution (then British India, now Pakistan) adopted on 23 March 1940 by the All India Muslim League under the leadership of Ali Jinnah in Lahore. In it, a separate state for Indian Muslims was demanded on the basis of two-nation theory. In addition to economic and religious independence of the Hindus and the political sovereignty of the Muslims should be backed up. Noteworthy is also the time of resolution: a few months after the beginning of World War II, when the British colonial rule was given the German war successes weakness.

The Lahore Resolution was an important step towards the partition of British India and the establishment of the independent state of Pakistan, which was implemented in 1947 after the Mountbattenplan.

In Lahore the adoption of the resolution was erected minarets ( Minar -e- Pakistan) at the site.
