Laiaküla, Tallinn

Laiaküla is a municipality (Estonian asum ) of the Estonian capital Tallinn. The district is located in Pirita district.

District

Laiaküla (literally " broad village" ) is sparsely populated. The municipality now has 134 inhabitants (as of 1 May 2010). It lies on the eastern outskirts of Tallinn.

The former village Laiaküla was located between the villages Lepiku and Iru. According to statistics from June 1920 lived in Laikaüla only three families. 1930 their number had grown to eight yards. A village center between the far-flung property did not exist. It was only after the incorporation into the city of Tallinn, the area was expanded with additional houses.

For area of the district includes parts of the cemetery Pärnamäe and the Botanical Garden of Tallinn.
