Laimdota Straujuma

Laimdota STRAUJUMA ( born February 24, 1951) is a Latvian economist and politician ( party Vienotība ). Since 22 January 2014, it is Prime Minister of Latvia - the first woman head of government of their country.

Life

Laimdota STRAUJUMA studied 1968-1973 mathematics and physics at the University of Latvia in Riga. From 1973 to 1988 she was a research assistant at the Institute of Economics of the Latvian Academy of Sciences and completed a postgraduate degree, which she completed in 1987 with the aspirant. From 1988 to 1991 she worked in the State Planning Authority. In 1992 she was awarded his doctorate with a dissertation on the evaluation of the use of resources of the Latvian manufacturing companies of Dr. oec.

From 1993 to 1999 she was deputy director of the state advisory body for management in agriculture, then Head of State counseling center for management education and training in agriculture. From 1999 to 2006 she was State Secretary in the Ministry of Agriculture (until 2000 in the rank of a Deputy Secretary of State ). From 2007 to 2010 she was State Secretary in the Ministry of Regional Development and Local Government.

From 2011 to 2014 STRAUJUMA was Minister of Agriculture. On January 5, 2014 Andris Berzins President STRAUJUMA commissioned to form a government.
