Lake Bemidji

Lake Bemidji is a small glacially -formed lake in the north of the U.S. state of Minnesota, with an area of about 26 km ². The lake is located in the south of Beltrami County, near the city of Bemidji, which lies on the southwest shore. The language of the Ojibwe describes the lake as Bimijigamaa ( lake of another water body crosses ). The lake is a popular recreation and leisure destination. The Lake Bemidji State Park is located along the north shore.

One popular legend has it that the 10,000 lakes of Minnesota caused by footprints of giant lumberjack Paul Bunyan, with Lake Bemidji even resembling a footprint.
